So why the heck am I doing this? Well I have lived in Cordova TN for over 18 years now, and my how things have changed! When we first moved here, Cordova had only a small population. There were a few small housing developments surrounded by vast woodland areas. That is no longer the case.
Over the years, the quality of life has been on a downward spiral. This has been particularly true the last 11 or 12 years. During that time, my family and I have watched property values go down the crapper while the number of crimes, amount of traffic, and taxes keep going up and up. This decay has only accelerated after being annexed by the city of Memphis in 2006.
Greedy developers have decimated the environment and flooded the housing market through uncontrolled development. Now, long time home owners like myself are essentially "trapped" in an area where the supply of housing far out strips demand. To sell the house "as-is" means taking a huge loss even after owning it for 19 years. Several properties in the area are for sale yet developers continue to build.
The only successful formula for selling your house in this market seems to be to first make any and all needed repairs and then by making several upgrades to bathrooms, kitchens and the like. Unfortunately, that takes time and money which a lot of people don't have enough of.
So I thought I would put up a site where I could vent my own frustrations and give others in the area a place to talk about their own experiences. I plan to add other areas and content to this site as I go along and appreciate you taking the time to visit and check back often. Please contribute to the forums by posting your own stories and any suggestions that might help existing home owners who hope to move achieve success.
If you can afford to help me out by supporting the site and accelerating my own move, please do! I won't forget it. Thx in advance!
